That depends on your network and your chosen service.
I use a mobile phone EVERYDAY at work for email etc (via a PeeCee unfortunatley), the average bill per month is about 20 that's JUST call time (i.e no line charge etc). You could probably add another ten/twenty quid to that because it's a business mobile, I think calls are charged at something like 10-12 per min peak
It's just a pain that the speed is limited to 9600 baud. This isn't quite so bad sometimes, even for web browsing, but get a complicated webpage or a big email, time for a long coffee break.
